Juan Camilo is a Ph.D. candidate in the School of Education at the University of California, Irvine.
His research examines how social stressors and environmental factors, such as community violence and exposure to greenspace, affect child development and educational outcomes. An applied microeconomist by training, he employs advanced quantitative methods, including causal inference and geospatial analysis, to inform education and social policy, and theories of child development.
Juan Camilo's work has been published in Child Development and JAMA Open Network, among other peer-reviewed journals. He is a 2025–2026 NAEd/Spencer Dissertation Fellow.
